What is Dragon Boating?
It’s the ultimate team sport…with its beginnings in ancient China, dragon boating today is the fastest growing international team water sport. Dragon boating is a unique sport in its ability to attract a broad demographic of members with varying cultural and occupational backgrounds, as well as varying degrees of age and fitness levels. A typical dragon boat holds up to 20 paddlers in pairs, a drummer and a steersperson. BCDBA members recently attended a combination dragon boating/outrigger camp in Miami, Florida. They were coached by Team USA coaches Jeff Kuhn and Paolo Ameglio and guest coached by championship winning paddling coach, John Puakea.
